This is a façade renovation project in Changping, Beijing. The original European style of the estate needs to be transformed into modern Chinese according to the needs of the owner. A new indoor swimming pool is also wanted.

Considering that the project faces an artificial lake to the south and has superior landscape resources, the design scheme uses louvres and other Chinese elements rather than walls to open the facade as much as possible. We increase the overhang of the roof to emphasize the horizontal lines and to reproduce the traditional Chinese style. The wide eaves also provide shade for the rooms and outdoor spaces in the summer.
